- Juno got rid of Echo's speech except to echo other people.
- Echo followed the young youth into the mountains because she was in love. She could only talk with echos. She disintegrates into rocks until all is left is her voice.
- Narcissus finds a fountain and sees his reflection. He falls in love with his own image.
- He stared so long at his reflection that he lost thought of food and water and life. He died.
- The nymphs mourned for his death.
- The nymphs made a funeral for him, and in place of his body was a purple flower to remember him.
