- This the rise of the Roman Republic. This is from my point of view as a plebeian
- We want more power. Why must it be us who gets no say in anything that goes on in Rome.
- Ya we deserve more power!
- You deserve none of this!
- This is the story of the rise of the Roman Republic. We want more power and will get it.
- Were leaving tell we get the power we deserve!
- Ya!
- It was 509 BCE and the Etruscan kings were finally gone! Everything was great except they had a new idea of something called a Republic. But the only problem was that we didn't have any power and we had to do all the work like running the farms. And the Patricians only had to sit around and do none of the work. We were so mad but we knew we were ready to fight for our equality.
- We need to start writing down the laws!
- Fine!
- Your lucky were giving you this! You are disgusting!
- When we wanted more power they said no. I couldn't believe it. We had no say or anything to do with what happened in Rome. We were going to make that change no matter what it took. We were tired of being ignored and it was time we did something about it.
- We finally have the equality that we have been fighting for so long!
- Ya this is awesome!
- It was 494 BCE. They didn't give us any power and we knew that we did all of the work for the city. So we decided to leave Rome and camp on a hill and when those stupid Patricians realized that all the farms and everything shut down they started to panic. The Patricians needed us but we weren't coming back unless they gave us some power. And we knew we were going to get power! Finnaly.
- Even though we had gained some power, our fight for equality had just begun. We decided that the patricians should not have the power to change the law whenever they felt like it. So we demanded that the Patricians were to write down the laws. And in 451 BCE they finally agreed to start writing down the laws! This was awesome and a very far step in getting our equality.
- Ya you STUPID patricians should't be able to change the law whenever you wan't so we need to writhe the laws down!
- It was 287 and our fight for equality had finally come to an end! We had done it, I was awesome Now we could even pass laws for all Roman citizens and there were now assemblies for all Roman citizens like the Citizen's Association which could approve and reject laws. We could also nominate consuls, the tribunes, and the senate! It was awesome. And we now had more members serving alongside the patrician senators. We had finally won our fight for equality and it was awesome!
