  • The glucose molecules the pig got form the plant are broken down into smaller pieces which releases a small amount of an energy called ATP.

  • The next step occurs in the mitochondria where the molecules are broken down again using oxygen it got from breathing. ATP, Water, and Carbon dioxide (CO₂) are released as a waste product

  • ATP(usable energy)
  • oxygen
  • The animal takes in oxygen from the air when breathing and gets glucose (sugar) from eating the plant.
  • carbon dioxide
  • The pig releases the carbon dioxide into the air during the process of breathing. The pig uses the ATP (usable energy) and the water.
  • The cellular respiration equation helps organisms get the energy needed for life because the cellular respiration process provides organisms with the energy (ATP) needed to live, The process of cellular respiration also gives carbon dioxide off as a waste product which plants need to be able to start the process of photosynthesis to be able to provide food for themselves.
  • Cellular respiration is important to consumers because the process gives consumers ATP which is used to perform the organisms life activities.
  • Cellular respiration equation:O₂ (oxygen) + C₆H₁₂O₆ (glucose) --> H₂O + CO₂ + ATP
  • Photosynthesis and cellular respiration work together because the process of photosynthesis releases oxygen as a waste product which the process of cellular respiration needs. The process of cellular respiration releases carbon dioxide as a waste product which the process of photosynthesis needs. Both process gives off a chemical which the other process needs.
