Storyboard Text

  • Even being a monster, Grendel is a character that most teenagers can relate too. IIn the beginning of the novel, Grendel is very much a care free child. Who doesn't seem to have much care in the world.
  • “Being young, unable to face things, I would bawl and hurl myself at my mother...After that, comforted, I would gradually ease back into my games” (Gardener 1)
  • As the novel progresses, we see Grendel grow more into his teenage years. Where he becomes a more confused and lost teenager, who is just trying to find his way in the world, Trying to get advice and just figure out who he is and what he wants to do
  • “Expect on that ridiculous night when I walked up and tried to join them” (Gardener 76)
  • Grendel in his quest to find advice on what he should do goes to the dragon to get his view on it. Grendel has a very confusing talk with the dragon, who just leaves him more confused then he already was. His talk with the dragon leaves him more and more confused then before, that Grendel no longer can figure out who or what he wants to do. Which in the end results in him having dissociative identity disorder
  • “Nothing was changed, everything was changed, by my having seen the dragon.” (Gardener 75)
