- This shows the mother of the Buddha dreaming. Legends say that the mother had a dream where it was told that a being known as the Buddha would be reborned. She was then carried to the Himalayas while in bed where she was decorated in flowers and perfume. A elephant than descended carrying a lotus flower and entered in her.
- Young Siddhartha being kept inside by his father. His father wants to keep his son inside so he can follow the path of being a powerful ruler instead of going on the spiritual path to become the Buddha.
- This is the first sign Siddhartha sees from his first time outside of the country. He sees a old man walking in pain and learns it's because of aging.
- Soon after Siddhartha sees his first sign he comes across his second sign. He sees a sick man and asks if anyone can be sick and he learns the shocking truth that anyone can be sick.
- Siddhartha than comes across a corpse being carried to the funeral home and learns the third sign that everybody is mortal and eventually will die. He wasn't only shocked by this but was shocked because people would be reborned to suffer again and again.
- Siddhartha sees a man wearing a simple robe with a bowl in front of him living off the kindness of strangers. He wonders why would anyone want to live this way. But he learns from his fourth sign that he chose to live this way to learn answers of this painful reality.
