  • The French and Indian war was a war between France and Great Britain. The war was also known as the 7 Years War. During the war the British sent troops into the Americas lead by George Washington to get land in the Americas. The British ended up winning the war with the colonists.
  • The Shot Heard Round the World
  • The French and Indian War had put the British into tons of debt and the British Parliament starts enforcing taxes on the colonies in order to get money. However, the colonies didn't want to pay taxes and felt more powerless as the Thirteen Colonies had no seat in the parliament, thus having no voice in the British Parliament.
  • War and Battles
  • The Boston Tea Party was a rebellious act of the Colonists because they didn't like to pay taxes, so they went on a boat caring tea and threw all the tea into the water. 
  • Post-war and Constitution
  • British soldiers sent to Boston to capture the militia's weapons, which then Paul Revere and two other people warn the colonists that "The Red Coats are Coming." The British then marched to Concord to capture colonial captains, guns, and ammunition and when this happened the "Shot heard round the world" happened when colonial troops met British troops outside of Concord.
  • The Battle of Yorktown was the last major battle of the American Revolution fought at Yorktown, Virginia. The British army eventually surrendered to George Washington on October 19, 1781.
  • Britain recognized the independence of the United States of America and the new country adapted a new constitiution and new people such as Locke who wanted natural rights, and Rousseau who wanted freely elected governments.
