In the beginning of the story we are introduced to a man who is leaving camp at nine o' clock and is traveling on the Yukon Trail. It is extremely cold out and the sun isn't shining.
CLIMAX
The stream he knows is frozen, but he is cautious, knowing that even the coldest winter doesn't completely freeze the water.
FALLING ACTION
When the man tries to cross, the ice underneath him starts to crack and break and although he crosses, his feet and legs are now wet. He recalls what the old man told him about the cold. It sets him back, but he needs to make a fire.
