  • Exposition:It is a cold and wet night,and the father,Mr.White,and the son,Herbert, was playing chess by the burning fire.They were waiting for the Sergeant Major to bring them something, and that something was the monkeys paw. A quick explanation of the monkeys paw is a paw that grants you three wishes but those wishes come with consequences.
  • falling action
  • The rising action is when Mr.White ignores the sergeant-majors warning about the monkeys paw and makes a wish with it anyways. This creates suspense, leaving the reader to wonder if the sergeant major is right or not about the monkeys paw.
  • resolution
  • The climax is near to the end of the story as Mr.White makes his final wish with the monkeys paw. He is making this wish because they want their son alive again.
  • I wish our son could be alive again!!
  • The falling action of the story is when Mr.White finds the monkey paw on the floor and makes his third wish before Mrs.White can open the door.
  • The resolution of the story is when Mrs.White cries in disappointment as her husband journeys to the gate, where all he can see is a streetlight shining on a deserted road with no sign of Herbert's zombie corpse.
