- My boss keeps yelling at me! He's so rude and hypocritical. I hate him. But I will lose my job if I say anything.
- Mom shut up! Leave me alone. You are always bothering me and getting mad at me even when I do nothing wrong!

- I swear I made the bed in the morning. My brother said he saw my wife dancing with another guy at the bar earlier today. And that is definitely not my cologne. No, I'm just misinterpreting things. She is not cheating. My wife is loyal.

- This is when an individual displays their emotions (aggression, anger, frustration) in a certain circumstance on to less threatening or powerless targets.
- Rationalization
- I'm not overeating unhealthy food. Popcorn and chips are just necessary to enjoy a movie.
- This is when an individual is unable to admit the truth of what's occurring and simply denies its existence.
- Reaction Formation
- Oh my gosh. Her head wrap looks so ugly. The blue makes her head look so big lol.
- This is when an individual's ego reverts back to a time or stage in the past where they felt safer.
- She reverted back to thumb sucking in a stressful situation.
- This is when an individual distorts the truth and comes up with excuses in order to convince themselves and protect their self-esteem.
- This is when an individual reacts in a manner that is the exact opposite of their real feelings. This way, they can hide their true emotions about that person or thing.
