  • Hello children, If you don't know I am a griot. I am a storyteller. Today I am going to be telling you one of my favorite stories. It is the story of Mansa Musa's Hajj.

  • Before we get into the story you need to know a little bit about Mansa Musa.Mansa Musa was the tenth Mansa of the Mali Empire. He was the wealthiest man in the middle ages. Since he was so wealthy that was what led to the hajj. Know are you ready to hear the real story?

  • Alright, come on guys we still have the rest of the Sahara desert to walk. If we are ever going to make it to Mecca then we're going to have to pick up the pace.

  • Mansa Musa was a emperor of the Mali empire and was said to have 400 billion dollars. Musa was a muslim which is why he did a Hajj. The Hajj led him to being very popular across northern Africa and the Middle East.

  • Ya, we finally made it to the mosque in mecca.
  • Mansa Musa went on a trip that is called a hajj. He went to Mecca to honor Islam. Mansa Musa had a very long trip to get to Mecca. They had to cross the Sahara dessert, Nile and many other land forms that were hard to cross.

  • So that was the end of that story. Mansa Musa made a large impact on all the countries he went through, and many more.
  • Mansa Musa was very wealthy. On his hajj he passed out gold to everyone. He passed out so much gold that he made the value of gold decrease!

He also gave out so much gold that he decreased the price of Gold.
