  • EXPOSITION
  • Dear, I have a present for you.
  • What’s wrong? She looks so upset, i thought she’d be happy.

  • CONFLICT
  • Go ahead darling.
  • THANK YOU SO MUCH
  • RISINF ACTION
  • She’s so pretty!
  • Mathilde Loisel fantasizes about wealth despite the fact that she has none; she was born in Paris, France in the 1880s into a commoners family, but she believes her status is a result of a divine miscalculation.
  • RISING ACTION P2
  • That’s despicable.
  • And when her husband, Marcel, invites her to a lavish event she wants to go but refuses since she believes she’s unable to attend without a brilliant gown or stunning jewelry. Her husband offers her 400 francs to buy her a beautiful gown, but she demands jewellery. So he reminds her of her wealthy acquaintance Mme Forestier, suggesting she borrow one of hers. And Mme Forestier obliges, gifting her a magnificent diamond necklace for the occasion.
  • RISING ACTION P3
  • Haha the handsome man is mine.
  • How annoying, now lets get my necklace appraised.
  • Mathilde was an instant hit at the party; men wanted her and ladies wanted to be her. She danced and danced, enamored by the sensation. She left her husband with Madame Forestier, who was delighted for her yet dismayed by her actions. She'd merely thrown Marcel Loisel away like any other lady would a playboy, It was unacceptable.
  • I HAVE A PRETTY WOMAN AND ILL HAVE EVEN PRETTIER MONEY!
  • But, instead of her spouse, Mathilde danced with one man the entire time, a man called Oliver. He was wealthy and attractive, and he complimented her beautiful features; he was perfect for her. While Mme Forestier entertained Mr. Loisel, she became enraged with Mathilde and danced with Marcel, since Mathilde wouldn’t. Mathilde was enamored with Oliver and would not leave his presence for even a second.
  • By the end of the night, Mathilde had fled with Oliver, taking the valuable gemstone with her. She was going to be wealthy! She'd be renowned if she had this (sort of) affluent man and this diamond! She didn't even feel a speck of remorse for dear Marcel Loisel; he'd been forgotten for a long time, at least for her.
  • Meanwhile, Mathilde was terribly disappointed, having settled into Oliver's commoner house. She thought he was rich! Though, at least she had the necklace, and it was going to change their lives. She giggled over just how lovely it was, she was a genius! Then she was made aware she had received a letter, a letter from Madame Forestier. Mathilde merely gazed at it before tossing it aside. Mme Forestier was about to make her wealthy regardless, she would thank her afterwards.
