  • Hi, Mr. Hickling. Nice to meet you. I’m so glad to have Kai in my class. I’m his math teacher-Taylor Swift.
  • Hello, Miss Swift. Nice to meet you.
  • Oh. I noticed recently that he chose to sit at the back. If that’s the reason, please encourage him to sit at the front and tell him don’t worry about answering questions. I will use some other ways to test his understanding instead of asking him to answer questions in front of the whole group. I’m so glad you shared this with me, Mr. Hickling.
  • We have 20 minutes today to talk about Kai’s performance in math lessons. Time is limited. But if you want a further discussion, you can always contact me by email or make an appointment for another face-to-face conversation. You’re always welcome.
  • Teacher info:-@- T email address.
  • Thanks. Sure.
  • Kai is always sweet and polite in math lessons. I remember he helped to rearrange the tables last week when we had an exam in the classroom.
  • How’s his academic performance in your lessons, Miss Swift?
  • He also scored well in Algebra and Function. But when it comes to the later and harder chapters, his scores were sliding. Did he share any feelings in math lessons with you?
  • Here is the data of his test scores including big ones and mini ones. You may already see the big one in his report card, and here are some mini test scores we did in our lessons everyday. As you can see, his scores were not bad at the beginning.
  • Yes. He told us last month that he felt the math contents become harder and harder. He kind of lost confidence in math lessons. So he chose to sit at the back of the classroom in case that you would choose him to answer questions.
  • It really helps if we can work together. Do you have any concerns or ideas you want to share with me about Kai’s learning?
  • I feel he needs more practice to improve his math grades.
  • My pleasure, Mr. Hickling. Let’s Keep in touch regularly to track Kai’s progress. How about every other Friday at 2:00? Are you available? Phone call or Email? Or any other form?
  • I agree. If we can start from basic practice, that would be better. Except that, I will try to do ... (all strategies) to help. Actually, you can also help him at home. Here are some of my suggestions: …(all suggestions)
  • Thanks again for your coming for the meeting, Mr. Hickling.
  • Thanks so much, Miss Swift. I like the math games you suggested which I can play with him. I will try others, too. I will let you know about his performance at home.
  • Phone call would be great. The time is perfect.
