- Before they moved to Daly City his family always went on picnics and was always happy.
- Then they moved to a small town called Daly City. They had a small dirty house.This is where the beatings would begin. Dave's mom drank until she was drunk and began to abuse Dave.
- Even going as far as to burn him on the kitchen stove. And even stabbed him in the abdomen
- He would sleep in the cold garage on a wooden cot, rarely getting food. "My stomach coiled whenever I smelled food that was about to be served to somebody else, knowing it wasn't for me," he said.
- Finally the nurse at his school saw all the bruises and marks. He was free. The police officer took him to a new home. He endured the pain no longer.
- He had finally gotten away from his mom, All those years in pain and misery had come to an end. “One could come from less than humble beginnings, to become a winner from within.”
