  • Hi! Welcome to the Carboniferous ERA. I'm the ghost caveman who teaches people about coal, which is a brown or commonly black sedimentary rock that is formed through a geological prosses.
  • Once upon a time, the Earth was all one big continent. There were no such places as Australia or Europe. This continent was Pangaea.
  • The Sun is the Original Source of energy for Coal
  • Coal is made from Vegetation. When the first trees with bark appeared there was a lot of energy stored in then
  • Now, in the Carboniferous ERA, there was no such things as a decomposer, so all living matter that died, simply got buried underground
  • The buried matter turned to Pete and with pressure, time and heat, the Pete turned to Lignite, which turned to coal. This prosses took about 300 to 360 million years. Not much. This coal is stored deep, deep underground
  • PEAT: Is sometimes considered coal and and has been used as fuel in one places. It is helpful to clear oil spills
  • sub-bituminous coal: Is used for electric and steam power
  • LIGNITE: is the first coal to be formed
