- Bread and porridge are the main meals for most people.
- They also had fruits, vegetables, lamb and goats. Our main drink is beer made from barly.
- Facts:Girls got married at the age of twelve or thirteen!!
- The Egyptians houses were made of mud bricks. Egypt had a large supply of mud and sunshine. After the ingredients were stirred together they were pressed into a mold shape and dried in the sun.
- Facts:Most Egyptian households had a pet cat, as they thought it would bring them good luck.
- The Nile river runs right through Egypt. The Nile used to flood every year. The flood water left behind thick soil called silt. The silt was good for growing crops.
- Facts:Ancient Egypt has 118 pyramids while The Great pyramids of Giza has only three!!
- Hunting was mainly made for Kings and courtiers.
- Just like men, women could own businesses, borrow money, and own propertey.
- Women were considered men's equals under the law, but were still considered lower than men.
- Facts: The Egyptian alphebet contained more than 700 hieroglyphs!!
- The pharoh of Egypt was an abosulute ruler, answerable to no one. Whatever he decided was the law. In fact on way to say justice was, What the pharoh loves, and to say wrong-doing was, What the pharoh hates. The pharoh was consided to be a god.
- Facts:Ancient Egyptians liked to play board games. One popular game was callled senet, it was played for over 2,000 years.
- Egyptians wore white for over 3,000 years. Egyptians walked barefoot, but at the end of their jouney they put on sandals.
