This conflict has the theme of person vs. nature. The lab that belonged to Adrien and Grace's parents blew up and started a massive fire that unfortunately, killed their parents and left Adrien grieving for a long time. Grace, on the other hand wasn't as effected.

Once Adrien learns to accept the fact that his parents who adopted him died he soon realizes that his sister doesn't care about their parents' death. Adrien also learns that she doesn't care for Adrien and she thinks that her dad favored Adrien more than Grace.

After the many years of Grace and Adrien have spent being apart they meet at their boarding school where their parents taught at, But the longer Adrien is at this boarding school he starts to believe that Grace is stealing his parents research.

After snooping around to prove that Grace is actually taking her parents. But now, he has finally caught Grace taking her parents' studies.

When Adrien found out about Grace stealing her parents' research and had something to do with her parents' deaths Adrien was furious and now Adrien didn't want anything to do with Grace.

At the end of the book, Grace apologizes for what she has done and feels horrible and Adrien says that its okay because he doesn't like to live in the past.
