- Here is a Roman family while Rome is a Republic and fairly small.
- Here are powerful Carthaginians who live in the dominant city, Carthage.
- The Romans thought of a clever way to avoid naval battle. They got their soldiers onto the Carthaginian ships and won the first battle by using their army.
- A guy named Hannibal decided to attack Rome through Spain, and use elephants to cross the mountains. They camped out by the mountains for a while, hoping to wear down Rome. They then try to attack Rome but fail. Romans lay siege to Carthage.
- Even though Carthage is basically destroyed, people still want to keep trying but the Romans eventually burn the city. Every one was sold into slavery and everything valuable was retrieved and taken back to Rome.
- Rome gained all of Carthage’s land including Corsica, Sicily, and Sardinia which allowed them expand their empire North Africa, Asia Minor, and the Iberian Peninsula.
