- The young girl is trying to convince Esperanza to give her five dollars, with the argument that she will be her friend forever. However, Cathy thinks that Esperanza should not take up her offer due to her dirty clothes and scent.
- Texans
- Cathy becomes angered with Esperanza taking up their offer and leaves in frustration. Esperanza knows that she will have been upset with this decision but still goes to get money to pitch in nonetheless.
- Sharing
- Esperanza goes inside to get money for the bike. She only has three but guesses that Nenny will not be angry after finding out it was for a shared bike.
- Faster
- Esperanza likes Rachel and Lucy but is also confused by the way they act and talk. She likes their uniqueness but is not completely ready to always understand them.
- We come from Texas. Her was born here, but me I'm Texas
- They share the bike on this day since everyone wants to ride it. Lucy pedals, Esperanza sits in the back, and Rachel is on the handlebars
- The three girls ride faster and faster down the street, and Lucy responds to a woman commenting on them all being on the bike. They have fun riding down the street.
