- Hector takes on a leave and goes to his own house. But he did not find Andromache there, for she was already upon the battlement with, her son, and a servant.

- So Hector goes back by the same way along the streets till he reached the Scaian gates, and there his precious wife came running to meet him.
- Andromache stands by his side with tears running down her cheeks, and she caught his hands fast. She then adds to convinve Hector to stay behind these walls and do not make his boy an orphan and your wife a widow
- Andromache has no father and no mother now. Her father was slain by Achilles; he laid waste my home; he also killed her seven brothers as they went down to Hades. Her mother, who was queen in that place, was brought away a prisoner.
- Hector explains to Andromache why he needs to face Achilles; he cant back out for the sake of thr country. Then he talks to Zeus, and wishes his son to be a better man than his own father is, let him be strong and let him rule Troy in his strength. Hector proceeded to fight Achilles while they mourned for Hector in his house while he still lived.
