- Greenhouse means a gas that contributes to the greenhouse effect by absorbing infrared radiation carbon dioxide and chlorofluorocarbons.The main gases responsible for the greenhouse effect include carbon dioxide methane nitro-us oxide and water vapor which all occur naturally and fluoridated gases which are synthetic.
