- because of American" yellow journalism" where publishers print false accounts of Spain atrocities against Cuba, the American people wanted to invite Cuba
- immediate clause
- after,the war, the U.S was not struggle free. the philippines, whichthe U.S had inheritedfom the paris treaty of 1898, was the birthplace of a rebellion which the U.S. responded to brutally, only to grant the filipino poeple their freedom years later.
- In February 1898 the U.S.S Maine docked in Havana Cuba and exploded killing 260 people

- u.s president Mckinley demanded Spain to leave Cuba and give Cuba complete independence.

- without the treaty of paris of 1898 , none of this would've hapened and the war would've continued on!
- The U.S benefited greatly. They ended the spanish empire, became a colonail and asian power, increased anti-catholic feelings,and even improved their relationship with britian.
