- Hello, My name is Mr. Dna and I am what makes you, you!
- Interphase
- During interphase my friend the cells grow and make a copy of me.
- So in the end of interphase there is now two of me instead of one
- Prophase 1
- During Prophase 1 I cross over with my duplicate inside the cell. Also, parts of the chromatids can break off and reannal onto the other chromatid.
- Metaphase 1
- After I cross over now I have to go to either side of the cell and align myself at the equator. It looks a little something like this...
- Anaphase 1
- Whew, I am worn out after all that, but we're still not done! Now in this phase instead of my aligning in the middle I have to pull apart!
- Telophase and Cytokinesis
- Now in this phase I start to defend and get really small. In the cell this prepares me for the next phase where new cells are produced.
