Hey Cristina, did you understand the lesson in the Physical Science? The ionic and covalent bond?
Yes, I understand the lesson that we discuss in the Physical Science. The ionic and covalent bond is so easy for me.
Can you teach me what is ionic and covalent bond? and also the importance of these two?
The ionic bond is the attraction between positive and negative ions in a crystal and compounds held together by ionic bonds are called ionic compounds.
Ok, I can teach you but for now let's define what is the ionic and covalent.
If the difference of ionization potential between the two atoms is more ionic compounds are formed.
Atoms with greater electronegativity difference lead to the formation of an ionic bond. The example in this is NaCl.
Oh, so what is covalent bond?
If the electronegativities of the combining atoms do not differ much then the bond formed between them is likely to be covalent. The example in this is HCl.
The covalent bond is a bond formed when two atoms share one or more electron pairs. Each atom contributes an equal number of electrons towards the bond formation.
Atoms with higher ionization potential are unable to lose their valence electrons and hence prefer to form covalent bonds by sharing of electrons.
The chemical bonds are important in the interaction of elements and formation of compounds. Ionic bonds are important because they allow the synthesis of specific organic compounds. Scientists can manipulate ionic properties and these interactions in order to form desired products.
Covalent bonds are especially important since most carbon molecules interact primarily through covalent bonding.
The importance of these chemical bonding is that it can be a big help in our lives.
Ah, I really understand now. Thank you for explaining it to me .
The chemical bonds are  important to chemists, scientists, and everyday people. They create compounds that everyone uses, even if they aren't aware of it. In general, without chemical bonds, life would be completely different.
