  • Ha, Do you dare to enter the camp of Red chief, the terror of the plains?
  • We're playing Red Indians. I'm Old Hank, the Trapper, Red Chief's captive.
  • I like this fine. I never camped out before. I was nine last birthday. Are they any Red Indians in the woods?....
  • Johnny replied, "Aw, what for? I don't have any fun at home. You wont take me home, will you?
  • Then I asked, "Red chief, would you like to go home?"
  • "Not right away" Sam replied.
  • There were two men named Sam and Bill in Summit, Alabama. They wanted 2000 more dollars to pull off a fraudulent scheme so they decided to kidnap the child of Ebenezer Dorset. They found the boy throwing stones at a kitten and took him to a cave.
  • AHHHHHHHHH!! Get away!
  • Go back to sleep kid.
  • Why are you waking up so early?
  • The men had taken the the boy, Johnny to the cave. After dark, Sam drove the buggy back to the village from were they had hired it, and came back walking. As he entered he saw a fire burning and heard the boy say...
  • You liar! You are to be burned at sunrise. You're afraid.
  • Me? On, I got a kind of pain in my shoulder.
  • Johnny was having the time of his life. The fun of camping made him forget he was the captive himself. He immediately named Sam Snake-eye the spy and announced that when his braves returned, Sam was to be broiled at the stake at the rising Sun. While supper he kept talking...
  • Ebenezer Dorset, Esq.:We have your boy concealed in a place far from Summit. It is useless for you or the most skillful detectives to attempt to find him. The only terms on which you can have him restored to you are these: we demand fifteen hundred dollars in large bills for his return; the money to be left at midnight tonight at the same spot and in the same box as described. If you attempt any treachery or fail to comply with our demand, you will never see your son again. These terms are final. Two desperate men
  • We went to sleep at 11 o'clock. The men weren't afraid about the kid running away. He kept them awake for 3 hours. At last, Sam fell into a troubled sleep. At day break, Sam heard Awful screams from Bill. Sam jumped to see what the matter was. The Red chief was sitting on Bill's chest.
  • At sunrise, Sam woke up and remembered that he was to be burned. He sat up. He and Bill talked about whether Johnny's father would give a ransom for such a rowdy kid.
  • The men had made a letter for Ebenezer Dorset. Sam was going to post this.
