- At the Hitler youth meeting, Hitler said, "We older ones are used up" Hitler said. He spoke so softly at first that we had to lean in to hear him-it was a good trick, I realized. "We are rotten to the marrow. We are cowardly and sentimental." ""No!" some of the boys called out. Hitler held up a hand to quiet them" (Gratz 225).

- When Michael ambushed Horst, Michael said, "He went down hard on the sidewalk, and before he could tear the sack off his head and see who attacked him, I kicked him hard, right in the ribs. I heard something crack, and he screamed and doubled over" (Gratz 241).

- When Michael and Fritz are fighting on the tram roof, Michael said, "Fritz and I gave each other the same startled look, then dove for the suitcase at the same time. - After Michael saves the Projekt 1065 blueprints, the agent says, "That's not for me to say. But Michael, you do understand that you can't say a word about any of this. Ever. To anyone." I frowned. "What? What do you mean I can't tell anyone?" (Gratz 301-302).
