- Beatrice has to make the decision, she is stuck between Dauntless and Abnegation. When she cuts her hand, blood drops on the floor then she quickly puts her hand over Dauntless. The blood hits the coal, and Beatrice made the decision, that she will train to become dauntless. This is important because she makes a decision that will impact her life forever.
- First Kiss, Chapter 26
- After climbing the Ferris wheel with Four, Tris finds where the other team hid their flag. While trying to get down, a bar breaks, and Tris is dangling on the Ferris wheel. Four climbs down and starts the wheel saving Tris. This is important because it is the start of Fours and Tris relationship.
- Getting first in Dauntless, Chapter 32

- During a simulation, Tris breaks the glass tank that she is stuck in. Four questions her because Dauntless doesn't break glass like that. He realizes that Tris didn't just get Dauntless on her amplitude test, he deletes the simulation result so nobody suspects her. This is important because Four is the first person in dauntless to realize that Tris is a divergent, but he keeps it a secret to protect her.
- Triss Going to Let Tobias Shoot Her, Chapter 39
- After going through Tobia/Four fear landscape, Tris and his walk through the chasm holding hands. Here is where he admits that he likes Tris, and has been watching her. They have their first kiss, which was Tris's first kiss ever. This is important because it starts a new relationship for Tris, and also strengthens their connection.
- When their rankings come in, Tris is completely shocked. She didn't think she was going to be able to do it, but she proved everyone wrong and came in first. This is important because it proves to Tris that she can do it, and also lets her get passed the training.
- Tobias gets put under a simulation and doesn't recognize Tris. She can't beat him in a fight, she knows this. She thinks back to her fear landscape and remembers her shooting herself instead of someone she loves. So she gives Tobias the gun, he then wakes up from the simulation. This is important because it shows the love Tris has for Tobias, and how she could never kill him.
