- Mom have you heard about the phishing scams that are happening recently?
- So they've been getting people to fall for the scams by pretending to be a company that you trust. Like they pretend to be apple or amazon support.
- No what's been going on?
- They tell you theirs something wrong with some of your personal information and then try to to get you click on a link or send them it.
- Well in most cases when things happen like you forget to update your account information the company does send an email, but they don't typically send links for you to put your information in. They also do regular greetings a professional company wouldn't do.
- Really! What do they do to get you to fall for them?!
- Well how do I know if its a phishing scam?
- Well it'll start to glitch or run extremely slow.
- That's two ways to tell if its a scam. But if you look around at the email you can probably tell it looks a little fake.
- Well you can download security software or setting the software of your phone or computer to update automatically.
- Well you can report it to "IdentityTheft.Gov" or run a system check to see if you got any malware.
- What do I do if I've responded to a phishing email?
- Well how do I protect myself and my information?
- Well how do I know if my computer has been affected.
