There was once a man who was extremely smart and wealthy. He was unsatisfied with what he acquired over the years. Therefore, he went on to loan money out to those in need and would charge exorbitant rates.

The rich guy went to one of the poor laborers who was unable to repay him for the money he had lent out. He ended up meeting a little boy instead and asked the boy where his parents were in exchange for him to forget about the debt.

The child chose not to tell the man because he didn't

think he would forgive his parents' debt. The man

pledged to uphold his vow, and added that the fly

would serve asa witness so he couldn't take back his

word, and the child agreed

When the man came back to collect the money from

the boy’s family, he denied ever having spoken to the
boy, causing them all to go to court in an attempt

to resolve the dispute.

While in court, the rich man continued to insist that he had never spoken to the boy. The boy countered this by mentioning how the fly was their witness and had been sitting on the man’s nose. The man immediately stated that the boy was lying and that the fly was actually on the house pole.

Once he had realised his mistake, it was already too late. He had unintentionally admitted to having had the conversation with the boy and the judge knew that his word was invalid and not to be trusted. And so, the boy’s family didn’t need to repay their debt to the man.

If you tell me where your parents are, I will forgive your debt.

This fly will be our witness

Ok thats a good witness. My mom is at the market, and my dad is by the river.

Give me my money!

Don't worry! This man forgave our debt.

I've never seen this boy in my life!

The fly was my witness. He was on the mans nose.

No! The fly was on the housepole.

You made your promises sir! Whether or not he was on your nose, you still had a conversation.
