  • “No, my dear,” “Only you.”
  • Billy goes downstairs to sign the guestbook. There were only two entries: Christopher Mulholland 231 Cathedral Road, Cardiff & Gregory W. Temple 27 Sycamore Drive, Bristol. Billy believes he knew those names , but he couldn't quite remember where he had heard them before. The landlady appears with some tea, and he then remembers Christopher Mullholland was in the newspaper headlines and suddenly went missing ... she later mentiond they were, "...tall, young, and handome..." just like him.
  • EXPOSITION
  • He was trying to decide if to stay at the Bed and Breakfast or The Bell and Dragon, suddenly he becomes hypnotized by the sign and a strange force compells him to ring the doorbell. A nice landlady quickly opens the door before he takes his finger off the doorbell, she looked harmless. She took him to his room and was an excellent host. Billy noticed that the place was empty and asked her why, she replied that she was very picky about who she let into her house. She then asked Billy to sign her his name in a book, near the fire place. Billy begins to notice that she is an eccentric lady.

  • The landlady asked Billy if he had signed his name in the book, he replied yes. She then said that it was good that he wrote his name in the book so she can always recall his name & the other two names in the book. Billy asked if anyone but them had showed up in her guest house in 3 years. The landlady said with a smiled "No, my dear", "only you".

  • A 17 year old businessman named Billy Weaver was looking for a place to stay for the night on a deadly cold evening in Bath, London. He asked the porter at the train station if there was cheap lodging nearby, and the man replied that a pub called the Bell and Dragon would take him in. On his way to the pub he noticed a cozy Bed & Breakfast. He decide to peer into the building.
  • As Billy continued drinking his tea he noticed the tea "tasted faintly of bitter almonds"...symbolizing that he has been poisoned by the landlady with cyanide. 
  • Billy was drinking his tea & the landlady did the same. The landlady stared at Billy and he could sense her looking at him. Billy noticed that she smelled weird. Billy noticed the parrot and dog had not moved since he has been here, because they are dead. She preserves the bodies of all her pets when they pass away, "I stuff all my little pets myself when they pass away."
