Storyboard Text

  • Nickel is mined underground in ore deposits. The method of mining can vary depending on the miners aswell as the deposits, depth and size.
  • In this case the nickel is a large deposit at a depth of about 300m underground. To get to the deposit they dig a tunnel they drill small holes in the deposit, fill it with explosives and blow it up. It is then picked in and delivered to the surface in trucks.
  • It is then emptied into semis which deliver it to the factory for the ore to be processed.
  • After being delivered the ore is crushed 4 times into a powder and mixed with water into a semi-liquid
  • Semi-liquid is then put through a series of flotation tanks separating the nickel from everything else
  • It is then thickened, by taking away most of the water and turned, into nickel concentrate and taken away to be refined
