Storyboard Text

  • Hello, my names oxygen! Today I'll be showing you how I travel throughout the body. My buddy Carbon Dioxide will show you how he forms in the body and leaves the body.
  • As you breathe me in, I go travel into your lunges and once I'm there I pass into your blood stream. The reason for this is so you can release Carbon Dioxide and intake more oxygen.
  • Once I'm in the blood stream, I carry all the oxygen to the cells that are needed in the body. The cells need oxygen in order to get energy from the food you eat (overall function). This is also known as Cellular Respiration.
  • Hello, my name is Carbon Dioxide and I'll be telling you how I form in the body and leave the body. Are you ready?!
  • When you burn food for energy (known as metabolism), you then create me as a waste product in the form of gas.
  • Once I go into your blood stream, I travel along the lining of the air sacs, then into the lungs where you get rid of me by exhaling (breathing out). The lungs are known as a gas exchange that provide oxygen and get rid of Carbon Dioxide in the body.
