- in 1095, the pope called for a crusade to free the holy land. The Turks invaded kingdoms and the Byzantines were threatened. So once they were invaded they called for help. He wanted liberty from the turks.
- we must have a crusade to free the holy lands.
- i shall help you, and the people that shall help will be sent to heaven.
- after the popes announcement around 30,000 people decided to help to fight alongside them threw the crusade.

- finally the pope listened to the cries of the people.
- Some religious leaders used feudal concepts to explain the concept of holy war. Jesus was every Christians christ. Soldiers were obligated to defend the lords land.

- Pope Urban II called for a Second Crusade. The Crusade was a loss for the Muslims. Starting with the loss of Edessa after that things just got worse. A army from Germany was defeated. Then French Crusaders were defeated at Jerusalem. After all that the Second Crusade ended.

- After the second crusade ended, most of lands were had a rule. Sultan salah al-Din gathered the Muslims and took back Jerusalem. While King Richard also known as Richard The Lionheart fought Jerusalem. In time the leaders came to a truce. This ended the third crusade.

- Overtime the fights for the holy land were unarranged movements by peasants. like in 1212, a group of children traveled towards the Holy Land and almost none of them made it. It is now known as the Children's Crusade.
