  • Description : The Bosses son, he's a short man who wears a glove full of vasoline on his left hand and wears high-heeled boots
  • Personality Traits : He is a really good fighter and he enjoys picking fights with bigger men to compensate for his small size. He's also jealous of the other men who work at the farm because of his wife's interest in them
  • Candy
  • Quote : You seen what they done to my dog tonight? They says he wasn't no good to himself nor nobody else. When they can me here I wisht somebody'd shoot me (...) - Candy
  • Description : Tall, stoop shouldered old man with no right hand
  • Personality Traits : He's afraid that his age is making him more likely to be kicked out of his only job and seems to be gullible, because he believes Lennie and George'sfarm story with no shred of evidence that the farm for sale even exists

  • Carlson
  • Description : (Not a lot of description) He's a ranch worker who is described to have a large, thick body
  • Personality Traits : He's seems pretty insensitive. While trying to convince Candy to let him shoot his dog, he was not being very patient or understanding. To me, that seems insensitive. But he's also a good negotiator. He somehow convinced Candy to let him shoot his dog
  • The Boss
  • Quote : (...) Gets pretty mad sometimes, but he's a pretty nice fella - Candy
  • Description : (Not a lot of description)He's a short and fat man who runs the ranch
  • Personality Traits : He's the owner of the ranch and Curley's father. He seems to be a no nonsense kind of man, but he can also be nice at times, as Candy describes him in the quote below
  • Slim
  • Quote : Carl's right, Candy. That dog ain't no good to himself. I wisht somebody'd shoot me if I got old an' a cripple - Slim
  • Description : He's described as being a very good looking and strong man. He's also got a soothing voice that helps people trust him.
  • Personality Traits : He seems to be the only person who respects and understands the relationship between Lennie and George. He seems to be highly respectful and polite. He's also the source of advice for many of the other workers
  • Quote : No Lennie, I ain't mad. I never been mad, an I ain't now. That's the thing I want ya to know - George
  • George
  • Description : A small, but smart man who takes care of Lennie. He's also a good worker
  • Personality Traits : During the entirety of the book, George takes care of Lennie. Although constantly talking about how his life would be better without him, he is a devoted friend and guardian towards Lennie. But he's also devoted to his ideas and dreams. He is constantly talking and thinking about his and Lennie's future and dreams
