Storyboard Text

  • Finally In 10th grade I decided that I wasn't going to let my anxiety control me for the rest of my life, because in the past I missed out on events because I was too scared and regretted it, but I decided to put my foot down, and change my mindset for the better.
  • I've had enough of being scared of talking, I just want to not be anxious while talking, I need to change.
  • H-hh-Hey can I sit here?
  • So to begin, I start stepping out of my comfort zone, by putting myself into uncomfortable situations for me, like sitting at the same lunch table, as someone else, or starting small talk with different people, it was hard at first, but I kept pushing through, and eventually, it got easier, it just takes time and practice.
  • Eventually by 11th grade, I had grown comfortable sitting with other people at the lunch table and talking to my peers, but there was one thing I haven't done yet, and that was to hang out with friends outside of school, and toward spring of junior year I gathered up the courage to do it.
  • Eventually in May I gathered up the courage and asked one of my friends if I could join him with his group to prom and he agreed, at that moment I felt the feeling of euphoria as I just made a huge step in my social life, as for the first time in 11 years, I was not longer scared, but confident and strong.
  • Hey how are you doing?
  • Over the course of the next few months I grew more confident in myself to talk to more people outside of my friend group and beginning my senior year I started to join some student clubs to help boost my social life.
  • I still struggle with some social anxiety today, but throughout years of experience and practice, ive been able to not give in to my anxiety and fight through it to talk to people, because if you believe and put your mind into something your confident in, you can achieve anything.
