- Mr. White is talking with Sergeant-Major Morris. He tells him about the monkey paw. Morris wants to get rid of it, but Mr. White wants to keep it

- RISING ACTION
- They talk about what to wish for. Mr. White says he has everything he wants. But His son Herbert, say it would be nice if they could pay off the house.
- I wish for 200 pounds
- CLIMAX
- Someone from Herbert's job comes and tell them their son had died. The man is giving them 200 pounds for his death. But Mr. White wished for 200 pounds the other day...

- FALLING ACTION
- Mrs. White made the old man wish for Herbert back, and now there is knocking at the door. Mrs. White runs to the door trying to open it. Mr. White just stays in the room.

- RESOLUTION
- When Mrs. White opened the door Herbert was nowhere to be found. Mr.White came down stairs to check for himself. Mrs. White us sad that she does not have her son back.
