  • I guess
  • I think that the Berlin airlift was the starting point for the Cold War. The Berlin airlift happened from June 1948 to may 1949. The Allied powers sent supplies to the people in berlin with the hopes that with the right supplies they could fight off the soviets that where occupying the area. in the end it was successful because of the brave solders that where willing to fight for extra rations.

  • We should form a pact or I will kill u
  • sounds fair
  • NATO was formed on April 4, 1949. Woodrow Wilson presented the idea to the other European powers. I think that it was significant because it was a preemptive action to discourage the attack on the rest of Europe. I that the Russian government saw this as a signal of war in the future. The alliance was misunderstood by the soviets, so they wanted to get back at the rest of the world.
  • well that's too damn bad
  • I don't wanna do this no more
  • The Korean war started on June 25, 1950. The war was fought for a little over three years. Approximately 75,000 soldiers died during the war and about 60 billion dollars where spent. All of this to stop the spread of communism and the soviet union. The North Koreas where communists that could be influenced by the soviets. So the US sent money and soldiers to try to stop the north. That made the Soviets have even more resentment towards the US.
  • we win
  • but how
  • The Warsaw pact was formed on May 14, 1955. This was an alliance between Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania and The Soviet Union. It was similar to the NATO alliance that was formed 5 years prior. I think that it was in response to the forming of NATO because it was formed so soon after. I think the Soviet Union wanted an alliance to ensure that they would have allies if they decided to enter a war with the US.
  • The Vietnam war was one of the bloodiest wars in the history of the US. And again it was for the silly reason that the Korean war was fought, the US wanted to stop the spread of communism and the Soviet Union. It started on November 1, 1955 and it lasted almost 20 years. Hundreds of thousands Americans died for little reason. The entire war could have been avoided if the US and the Soviet Union weren't beefing.
  • The space race started on October 4, 1957. It was a race to see who could get to space first and it was between the US and the Soviet Union. The soviets actually got to space first. They sent a living animal to space first then they sent the first person to space. But the US gets all of the credit because they got a man on the moon first. I think that this was important because it drove the wedge between the US and the Soviets even more.
