Louis Riel Is traitor because although he founded Manitoba in 1870, he betrayed the Metis as well as Canada for his benefit.
He formed a rebellion again the government. He captured people and weapons in Fort Gary to fight the Red River Rebellion. He later founded Manitoba however, his accomplishment was "muted" because the Red River Rebellion caused a loss of trust in Riel.

On top of everything, a racist man named Thomas Scott was convicted of treason and was executed by the government, who was led by...yes, you guessed it, Louis Riel

To escape from prosecution of Scott's death, Riel fled to America after he was banished from Canada for 5 years. He betrayed Canada and the Metis while he was gone.
Treason:1. the crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.2. the action of betraying someone or something.
When he returned to Canada, he was accused of treason as well as being mentally ill, making him "crazy" and "insane." Labelling Riel as "mentally ill" justified his actions calling them poor choices. Some say he was acting crazy for his own purposes.
Wow I didn't realize that Louis Riel was so evil!!

Why were we always celebrating Riel? He is a traitor!
