  • George Washington declared president of United States in 1789.
  • Onward!
  • George Washington was the first American President of the United States. Unlike the vast majority of European states, USA was the first country to become a republic - a country without a king
  • He possessed many characteristics. These were:1. Self-restraint 2. Self-assertion3. Self-reliance 
  • People had known him as the first American president, but he his other known factor was his strategical advantage in battle, one of which led to many victories in the war for independence.
  • Liberty, when it begins to take root, is a plant of rapid growth.
  • Washington had studied mathematics in his younger years, being raised in colonial Virginia. Later fighting in multiple wars, such as the French and Indian war.
  • George Washington in many ways was , and remains, the model of what it means to be an American citizen.
  • In 1787 (the time he was elected) Washington led the Virginia delegation to the Constitutional Convention where he was unanimously elected presiding officer.
  • After serving 8 years as president, he died at the age of 67 years. On December 14th, 1799, Washington fell ill and died in a 21-hour period.
