- Us readers had got an insight on Winston's work environment and what it feels like being there. As he looks around, his fellow coworkers almost look like they have no soul or motivation to work due to the intense rules in society set by the government. "There were quite a dozen people whom Winston did not even know by name, though he daily saw them Hurrying to and fro in the corridors or gesticulating in the two minutes hate" (Orwell 44).
- Big Brother's watchful eyes through the screen give this scary and forceful message that you are being watched at all times and being stripped of your freedom and liberty. "You had to live-did live, from habit that every sound you made was overheard" (Orwell 9).
