  • President Roosevelt sent U.S. warships, on the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, to Panama City in "support of Panamanian independence".
  • The US accepted Panama's independence in 1903.

  • The Panama Canal was completed on August 15, 1914. It took 32 years of construction and unfortunately around 28,000 worker deaths before the 51 mile long canal could be completed.
  • The Panama Canal works by an artificial lake basically step laddering the boats to its destination. It opened doors to more efficient and a wider variable of trade amongst different countries.
