- President Roosevelt sent U.S. warships, on the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, to Panama City in "support of Panamanian independence".
- The US accepted Panama's independence in 1903.

- Panama declared independence on November 3, 1903. Practically labeling Philippe Bunau-Varilla as their leader.

- Hay-Bunau-Varilla Treaty of 1903- The US can have a 10-mile wide strip of Panama land to build the canal- One payment of $10 million to Panama- Yearly annuity of $250,000
- We will accept Panama's independence

- The Panama Canal was completed on August 15, 1914. It took 32 years of construction and unfortunately around 28,000 worker deaths before the 51 mile long canal could be completed.
- The Panama Canal works by an artificial lake basically step laddering the boats to its destination. It opened doors to more efficient and a wider variable of trade amongst different countries.
