- It can heat, cool, and generate electricity.
- That's cool. What's so good about it then?
- Well, it is renewable and environmental friendly. It is a sustainable and reliable source of energy.
- It's used to heat and cool buildings, provide electricity, raise plants, and dry crops.
- It can't be perfect. What's the bad part about it?
- You're right! Using geothermal energy can trigger earthquakes and has some negative impacts on the environment.
- Installing appliances that use geothermal energy are very costly and location specific.
- Oh okay. Should we use it in North Carolina then?
- Well NC isn't best suited to use geothermal energy but it can be energy efficient.
- However, North Carolina's soil is very well suited for Ground Source Heat Pumps.
