Storyboard Text

  • Why won't this big ball move quickly? Maybe the little ball would be quicker because it has less mass. The bigger ball has more inertia than the smaller ball.
  • This is an example of Newton's 1st Law. Newton's First Law States: An object in motion will stay in motion, and an object at rest stays at rest unless an unbalanced force acts upon it.
  • This is an example of Newton's 3rd Law. Newton's Third Law states: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
  • When I pushed both of these boxes, the one on the left moved slower even though I applied the same amount of force on both boxes. Both boxes would impact my speed.
  • This is an example of Newton's 2nd Law. Newton's Second Law states: That the acceleration of an object is dependent upon two variables - the net force acting upon the object and the mass of the object.
  • The rocket got off the ground and into outer space where there is no gravity. We were able to reach the moon.
