  • ALL ABOUT NON-MENDELIAN INHERITANCE
  • Good day, students! Our topic for discussion today is the Non-Mendelian Inheritance.
  • You were already divided into two groups, and each of you was given a topic to study. So let's go on.
  • We will immediately, ma'am.
  • In terms of the Codominance example, we have the most prevalent which is the AB blood type.
  • We can use the combination of a white flower and a red flower as an example of incomplete dominance. When they mate, all of their progeny will have pink flowers, creating an entirely different phenotype.
  • Good day! We are the first group, and today's topic we will be discussing Incomplete Dominance, Codominance, Multiple Alleles, Polygenic Inheritance, and Epistasis.
  • INCOMPLETE DOMINANCE, and CODOMINANCE
  • Let's start with Incomplete Dominance first. The two alleles merge as a result of incomplete dominance, giving rise to a third phenotype that combines the two. Little of either parent can be seen in the phenotype that was produced.
  • The Codominance is the second one. The progeny expresses both alleles in codominance. Flowers with red and white spots are produced when a red flower and a white flower are crossed. Both parent phenotypes are observable in the progeny.
  • Human height, weight, and skin tone are examples of the polygenic inheritance.
  • In addition, the phenomenon known as Epistasis occurs when one gene influences the phenotype of another gene. Examples of this include hair color and baldness.

  • In terms of multiple alleles example, we have the ABO blood system.
  • MULTIPLE ALLELES, POLYGENIC INHERITANCE, AND EPISTASIS
  • According to the Polygenic Inheritance, polygenic inheritance occurs when two or more genes regulate the same trait. Genes are usually numerous yet have little overall impact.
  • We will now discuss Multiple Alleles, which refer to traits that are regulated by more than two alleles. Each offspring only receives two of these alleles, even though a trait is controlled by several alleles.
  • The Sex-Linked Inheritance examples include hemophilia, congenital night blindness, and red-green color blindness.
  • Lethal allele examples include the human diseases cystic fibrosis, sickle-cell anemia, and achondroplasia which are brought on by recessive lethal alleles.
  • LETHAL ALLELES, AND SEX LINKED INHERITANCE
  • Great day! We are today's second reporters. Lethal Alleles, Sex Linked, Sex Influence, and Sex Limited Inheritance we will be discussing today.
  • The Sex Linked Inheritance is the next one. When a gene is found on a sex chromosome, it is said to be sex-linked. Several features are controlled by genes on the X chromosome in humans because the X chromosome is larger and includes more genes than the Y chromosome.
  • To start, we have lethal alleles. Lethal alleles are those that cause death in the creature they are carried by. Lethal alleles can be dominant, recessive, or conditional, depending on the genes involved.
  • We have lactation, or the production of milk, here as an example of Sex Limited Inheritance. Despite the fact that both males and females have the genes necessary to produce milk, only lactating females are able to express these genes.
  • SEX INFLUENCED, AND SEX LIMITED INHERITANCE

  • In terms of Sex Influenced Inheritance example, we have soft facial hair in females vs coarse facial hairs in males.
  • And last but not the least, we have Sex Limited Inheritance. Sex-limited features, which manifest or are apparent only to one sex, are determined by genes on autosomes. They are responsible for sexual dimorphism.
  • Sex-Influenced Inheritance will now be discussed. Autosomal features known as sex-influenced traits are those that are affected by sex but do not manifest differently in men and women.
