  • This is a Red Panda. Identification is easy. They have large, round heads, short snouts, and big, pointy ears. There are 2 different types of Red Pandas, the Himalayan and the Chinese. Chinese Red Pandas have redder fur and striped tail rings. Himalayan Red Pandas have whiter faces. They also need more urgent protection. They have lower genetic diversity and a small population.

  • Red Pandas live in the Eastern Himalayas. You can find the Eastern Himalayas in China, Nepal, and Bhutan
  • Dangers
  • Red Pandas are primarily herbivores but, they also eat small rodents and lizards, insects and bird eggs.
  • Red Pandas don't have many predators. They are Snow Leopards, Martens, and people.
  • Red Pandas are an endangered species. There is less than 10,000 Red Pandas in the wild. Their population is declining by habitat loss, fragmentation, poaching, and inbreeding depression.
