Storyboard Text

  • The Battle of Stalingrad began on August 23, 1942 and ended on February 2, 1943. The Russians were fighting the Germans, each had over 1 million me, many tanks, and thousands of airplanes. It was one of the biggest battles of World War II. The Germans surrendered after nearly starving and the amount of men killed war around 750,000, while Russia only lost around 500,000 men. Russia fought fiercely and the Germans were done.

  • The Battle of D-Day began on June 6, 1944 and had a campaign that lasted until July 24, 1944. All the Allies came together to take Normandy back from the Germans. The Allies had over 150,000 men. They took the beach that day and went on to liberate France by taking Paris. This would lead to the Allied victory in World War II.

  • The Battle of Midway began on June 4, 1942 and ended on June 7, 1942. The U.S. fought against Japan. Midway was in the middle of the Pacific and was considered an important strategic point. The Americans were outnumbered, but intercepted a message letting them know Japan's plan, giving them the upper hand. The Americans won the battle and destroyed four Japanese carriers, while the Japanese only destroyed one American carrier. This was a decisive win for the Americans.
