God said to Avram go to Canaan. If he goes, God will make a nation for him; bless him, make a name for him and make the name great, Avram will be a blessing, God will bless anyone who blesses Avram and curse anyone who curses Avram, all families will be blessed through Avram.
So he went with his wife Sarah and his brothers son Lot. They took everything they had. While walking they passed through Shechem and Moreh.
When they arrived, the Lord said, “To your offspring, I will give this land.” Avram built an altar, and God came to him. They moved to the hills east of Beth-El, where he pitched his tent and went towards the Negev.
He then went on to build and pitch another tent but him and Lot had too many possessions and there was quarreling so Avram had the idea for them to split up
Avram was now rich in livestock silver and gold

Avram being his righteous self allowed Lot to pick first. Lot chose the land that looked the best, green and lush even though there is evil people
Once Lot left, God said to Avram that Avram was on his land and the land of his offspring. Avram was told to “Rise, walk about the land through its length and breadth for I give to you.”Avram moved his tent and settled in Hebron, where he built an altar for God.
