  • Juan Perón, alongside his wife Eva, was elected president in Argentina's first open election in 1946. As president, he strived to make Argentina a strong, self-sufficient nation while improving the well-being of the people
  • Thank you! Thank you! I am honored to be your president. I promise to do my best for Argentina.
  • And remember, we will always listen to you, the people.
  • He worked closely and diligently with government and military officials to accomplish his goals. One such person was Domingo Mercante who would be the governor of Buenos Aires. All their work would pay off as Argentina would have a major economic boom after the Cold War.
  • ... and Mercante, could you be the governor of Buenos Aires?
  • Well I could certainly try. I think I have some good ideas for land reforms and increasing labor rights.

  • Eva also contributed greatly as Minister of Health and Labor. From time to time she would even hand out small checks of money to the people. She was arguably the most beloved figure in Argentina, greatly increasing Perón's popularity.
  • Thank You!
  • Of course! I'm always striving to help everyone. Please, always feel free to let me know if you need anything.
  • Unfortunately, Perón's rule was not completely smooth. Eva Perón would die of cancer in 1952 during Perón's second term. This was a major blow to Perón, as he lost not only his love, but also the person who was a major contributor to his success. This was also around when Argentina's economic boom wore off.
  • NO! Eva no! Please, please. You can't go. How will I rule without you?
  • As Argentina's economy began to fall off, Perón was unable to sustain the workers' benefits he had established throughout the years. Many people began to grow discontent with Perón, but he continued to argue that the people just needed to trust in him while he implement stricter policies and control. However, civil unrest only continued to grow...
  • People! I promise, if you trust in me, I will do what is best for you all. I know it may seem difficult, but please-
  • Get out of here! We won't tolerate your strict policies anymore!
  • Inevitably, Perón was overthrown in a coup in 1955, having lost almost all of his support because of his authoritarian rule. He would flee to Spain. However, this would only mark the end of his first#160;time as president.
  • Ah shoot where do I go now? I guess I can stay in Spain.
