I was a boycott coordinator for the United Farm Workers in 1968 and went on strikes which led me to founding the Mexican American Unity council and I kept building myself up from there

Strike partaken in Rio Grande Valley for Latino/Hispanic rights
From 1972 to 1974 I started a new project to help Latinos be more involved more in voting for their rights and to make the democrats well aware of their votes and their attention. This project was The Southwest Voter Education.
In 1995 President Bill clinton awarded me The Presidential Medal Of Freedom as cultural peace has come to our latino community, our voices have been finally heard
Sadly my time on earth had came to an end but I know i left this world by making a change. I was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1988 which led to my passing
