  • It started when Homer Plessy who was 1/8 African blood sat in the white car for a train instead of the colored car. He refused to get up and move to the colored car.
  • The judge found him guilty. The charge was "Viol. Sec. 2 Act 111, 1890" of the Louisiana sperate car act.
  • Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas ended segregation under state law. Many states amended or rewrote their constitutions to agree with the 14th amendment.
