  • A presidential election is held every 4 years!
  • It's election year! I am announcing my candidacy!
  • After many fundraisers and campaigning, it is time for the POTUS primaries!
  • As well as caucuses, but those are going out of style.
  • ... and closed primaries...
  • There are both open...
  • Time for the National Convention!!!
  • Thank you to the __________ party for uniting behind our campaign! We will present our program and plan for our candidacy!
  • Now, with both parties each united behind a single candidate,
  • The PRESIDENTIAL campaign begins!!
  • To find each party's nominee, the candidates will battleDemocrats vs Democrats... AndRepublican vs Republican.
  • It's now time for the general election, which always takes place in November. Eligible citizens cast votes for who they want the next President to be!
  • Both parties usually hold this convention towards the middle or end of the summer. The majority of votes cast by delegates select the president and vice president candidates.
  • The total electoral votes each candidate receives is the final count. 270 votes to win!
  • The Democrat and Republican candidates campaign against each other, the media becomes a major tool, many DEBATES occur, rallies speeches!!! The main focus is on the swing states.
  • The process is not a direct democracy, we use the Electoral Collage. The electors pledge votes based on their states. Winner takes all in each state.
  • After all the votes have been officially counted, the new president is sworn into office during the INAUGURATION on the Congress steps on January 20th!
